[Video] Why Gifted Resource Teachers use Goosechase
Krista Miller and Maureen Ambrose are both Gifted Resource Teachers in Virginia, and Goosechase EDU Ambassadors. Watch the video to hear Krista and Maureen explain why they use Goosechase, what superpower it gives them, and what impact Goosechase has had on their students.
GooseChase: What superpower does Goosechase let you tap into?
Maureen Ambrose: When I think of Goosechase, the superpower that comes to mind is “community”. Goosechase allows for students to build community by showcasing their creativity, critical thinking and their communication skills. One of our favorite things to do after we complete a Goosechase is to look at all the Missions that students have completed and see what the students liked and see what they do.
GC: What are some of your favorite Missions?
Krista Miller: Their favorite Missions so far have been the active ones. Where they get to act out certain scenarios to show their learning. They also love the “seek and find” ones, where they take off around the building and find things that they need to learn academically. And then the third thing that they like the most is to work out a problem and then explain their thinking.
GC: How is your class different since starting to run Goosechase?
MA: One way that we've seen our classes change since we started using Goosechase: they become more comfortable with each other. It definitely has built a community and, actually, we have a unit that we're reviewing where some of our students are actually starting to create their own missions! We love seeing them empowered for their learning.
GC: Any final words about Goosechase?
MA: We love Goosechase!
KM: And we love that we can send out those notifications to the kids and get them really, really into getting those Missions completed and competing against each other in a very nice way.
MA: And we can let them know when it's time to come back to our room. I like that too!
