Goosechase Powers Free City-Wide Climate Week Scavenger Hunt Activating New Yorkers Across Every Borough

From September 20-29, Goosechase and Holes in the Wall Collective are hosting a free climate action scavenger hunt in New York City.

This Climate Week, Goosechase is excited to power a free city-wide scavenger hunt like never before. In collaboration with creative nonprofit Holes in the Wall Collective, we’re bringing New Yorkers together to explore, engage, and take climate action across all five boroughs. From individual reflections to powerful on-the-ground talks and events, this interactive experience will help participants discover the heart of the climate movement happening in their own backyard.

From September 20-29, journey through the neighborhoods of New York City, where climate luminaries are leading the charge in areas such as housing justice, shoreline protection, food security, youth action, and clean energy. From attending ocean clean-ups on Jamaica Bay to foraging urban landscapes in the Bronx, the goal of the scavenger hunt is to inspire meaningful engagement and ongoing climate action.

How It Works

Using the free Goosechase app, participants will navigate the city to find climate actions, installations, and activations. At each event, participants will have to complete a related Mission, such as taking a photo of their community garden, or checking in at the Waterfront Museum. Each Mission allows participants to collect points for their participation, earning them eco-friendly prizes, from Citi Bike memberships to custom Tony’s Chocolonely bars. It’s easy, fun, and free to participate.

Ferry Talks and Climate Conversations

The Goosechase scavenger hunt will also guide participants to Ferry Talks—in-depth conversations with climate leaders discussing topics like housing, food security, and youth empowerment, while riding the city's iconic ferries. Featuring local experts like environmental journalist Yessenia Funes, these talks will offer attendees the chance to dive deeper into issues impacting the city and the world.

Some highlights include:

• 9/20 – Housing Justice with Karen Blondel, traveling from Dumbo to Red Hook, followed by a kick-off party at Strong Rope Brewery.
• 9/22 – Food Security with Journei Bimwala and Liz Paredes, followed by a foraging tour and botanical tea party.
• 9/26 – Protecting Our Shoreline with Don Riepe, journeying from Wall Street to the Rockaways, ending with a “Riepe Tide” community party.
• 9/29 - New Energy with Just Transition activist JK Canepa and Youth Organizer Anna Tsomo, followed by a closing ceremony on Governors Island.
