Lesson Title: Ma vie en Français – My Life in French

K-12 Educators Aug 25, 2025

Looking for a way to make reflexive verbs and daily routine vocabulary actually stick with your French students?

This interactive lesson takes learning off the page and into real life. Students will move, speak, act, and laugh their way through the language as they learn to describe their daily routines, all while collaborating with classmates and completing a Goosechase Scavenger Hunt. Whether you’re reviewing a unit or introducing new content, this lesson gets your students thinking (and speaking!) en français from bell to bell.

Grade: 7 - 8

Subject: Core French

Learning Objectives:

  • By the end of this lesson, students will:
    • Learn and use vocabulary related to daily routines (e.g., je me réveille, je prends le petit déjeuner).
    • Practice using reflexive verbs in the present tense.
    • Be able to independently describe a typical day in French.
    • Demonstrate understanding through an interactive Goosechase scavenger hunt.

Materials:

  • Whiteboard or slides with vocabulary
  • Handouts or digital access to daily routine vocab + reflexive verb structures
  • Mobile devices (tablets, phones, or laptops) with the Goosechase app installed
  • Timer or classroom clock

Preparation:

  • Create an Experience on the Goosechase app with a series of Missions focussed on the French language
  • Develop Missions that require students to demonstrate their understanding of what they have learned. Example Missions:
    • Prends une photo de toi en train de faire une activité de ta routine du matin (par ex. : te brosser les dents, te réveiller)
      • Take a photo of yourself doing an activity from your morning routine (e.g., brushing your teeth, waking up).
    • Fais une vidéo où tu joues ta routine du soir et décris-la en français avec au moins 3 verbes. (Act out and narrate your evening routine with at least 3 verbs.)
    • Écris 5 phrases avec des verbes réfléchis pour décrire ta journée. (Write 5 sentences using reflexive verbs to describe your day.)
    • Montre un objet que tu utilises chaque jour et identifie-le en français.
(Show an object you use every day and identify it in French.)
    • Créez un tableau chronologique (dessin ou liste) de la journée parfaite – utilisez au moins 5 verbes français! (Create a timeline of the perfect day using at least 5 French verbs)

    • Prepare hints or resources that might help students solve the Missions if needed.
    • Divide students into teams and assign each team a mobile device with the app, or have students complete the scavenger hunt individually.
    • Run your Experience during one class period or longer.
    • App Set-Up
      • Dedicate time to ensuring all students have the Goosechase app downloaded and joined to the Experience to avoid any tech issues.

      • Read through Missions with students, emphasizing the importance of evidence and analysis in their responses.
      • Monitor progress and provide assistance as necessary.
